Graduated from the Fujian Medical University, Dr. Kang currently is the Associate Director of Thoracic Surgery in Fujian Medical University Union Hospital and Chief Surgeon of the Department of Thoracic Surgery in Fujian Medical University Union Hospital. 

Dr. Kang’s clinical interest lies on General thoracic surgery, lung cancer, esophageal cancer, Barrett's esophagus, tracheal tumors, disease of the airway, adult lung transplantation, lung volume reduction, lung surgery, thoracic disease, emphysema, thoracic malignancies, myasthenia gravis.

He has particular expertise in the minimally invasive thoracic surgery of esophageal and gastroesophageal cancer, lung cancer, and thoracic malignancies. He performed numerous complex operations using minimally invasive techniques, for which he has become national renowned, performing over 600 minimally invasive esophagectomies and lobectomies every year. He is frequently invited as an honored speaker nationally to present topics that relate to his research and minimally invasive techniques (especially about MIE).

Dr. Kang is a fellow of the Chinese Association of Thoracic Surgeons (CATS), and is a member of many prestigious surgical societies including the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer, the Chinese Society for Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery (CSCTS), among many others.
