Dr Ricardo A. Navarro is a graduate  of the National University of Cordoba – Argentina.

After  his residency in general surgery and a fellowship in General Thoracic Surgery in Argentina, he accomplished a one year fellowship at the Brompton Hospital – London – UK  and completed his training in esophageal surgery at Toronto General Hospital under  Dr Griffith Pearson and Dr Joel D Cooper.

Some years afterwards he received special training in lung transplantation under Dr Joel D Cooper at Barnes Hospital – St Louis – USA.

Dr Navarro has been one of the pioneers of lung transplantation in Argentina and has the largest series of lung volume reduction surgery for emphysema in his country.

He is  member of the AAMR (Argentine Association of Respiratory Medicine), Fellow of the ACCP (American College of Chest Physicians), International member of STS (Society of Thoracic Surgeons) and member of the IASLC (International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer).

Regarding minimally invasive thoracic surgery, Dr Navarro has had an intense work in finding minimally invasive alternatives to thoracoscopic surgery for those cases in need of open chest procedures.

As an important step of that work he has designed a new concept thoracic retractor and instruments set. (Delacroix-Chevallier – Paris – France).
