Dr. Antonio Martin-Ucar graduated in Medical School in Spain before moving into the United Kingdom. There he undertook basic training in Surgery and then moved onto higher surgical training in Cardio-Thoracic Surgery with a dedication to Thoracic Surgery.

Dr. Martin-Ucar worked as a Consultant Thoracic Surgeon in Leicester before relocating to Nottingham University Hospitals. His areas of interests are Minimally Invasive Surgery, Surgery for Mesothelioma, evaluation of the high-risk surgical patient and parenchymal-sparing procedures.

He introduced Single-Port VATS Lobectomies in the UK and most of his practice follows this approach. He has been involved in randomized trials and in numerous clinical research projects. He has published extensively in the field of Thoracic Surgery and is a familiar face as a Presenter and Faculty in many Scientific Societies.

He is part of the Learning Affairs Committee in the European Society of Thoracic Surgery where he is the Director of the Itinerant Expert Courses. Dr. Martin-Ucar is also involved in direct hands-off training in Single Port VATS Surgery in numerous international courses.
