Theodor Fischlein, MD

Dr. Theodor Fischlein graduated in Human Medicine at the University of Vienna as M.D. He was trained in general surgery, thoracic and cardiovascular surgery in Vienna, Wels and Salzburg, Austria. His training for specialization in cardiac surgery he received at the University clinic of Munich, Germany. He worked as a consultant and deputy chief at the University of Frankfurt and Erlangen, Germany.  He was appointed as Professor for Cardiac Surgery at the University of Erlangen and became Head of Department in Cardiac Surgery at the Klinikum Nürnberg in Nuremberg, Germany 2007. He is Professor in Cardiac Surgery of Paracelsus Medical University. 

His main interests are heart valve surgery and valve reconstruction as well as aortic surgery and minimal invasive access surgery. His team is performing minimally invasive aortic and mitral valve surgery routinely; there is a big experience in using new devices, like sutureless valve prosthesis. 

He is a member of several scientific boards and reviewer for different societies and journals in his field. He and his team are publishing and presenting research results in various international journals, textbooks and meetings consistently.
