Dr. Patrick Chan is a graduate of Boston University and received his MD at Drexel University College of Medicine – Hahnemann University Hospital. He is in the inaugural class of Integrated Six-Year Cardiothoracic Residents at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He is also currently a post-doctoral fellow in the Center for Thoracic Aortic Disease with Dr. Thomas G. Gleason.
In addition to his interest in cardiac surgery, since 2012, Dr. Chan has been training under Dr. James D. Luketich, focusing on minimally invasive thoracoscopic and laparoscopic techniques in lung, foregut and esophageal surgery. He has reviewed multiple journal articles for the Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, Annals of Thoracic Surgery, and Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery.
In the past, he has been awarded the prestigious American Association for Thoracic Surgery Research Internship. He served as part of the Integrated Cardiothoracic Surgery and Education Committees for the Thoracic Surgery Resident Association. He is currently a Candidate member of the Society for Thoracic Surgery.
