Dr. Tao Chen is a graduate of Southern Medical University(MD).He received standardized training of surgeon and now is an attending surgeon with about 10 years’ work experience in Nanfang Hospital. Between 2013 and 2014, he conducted his research and clinical training in National Cancer Center (Tokyo, Japan) as a visiting scholar.
Dr. Tao Chen serves on several academic organization and is the councilor in some of them. He is the member of International Gastric Cancer Association (IGCA) and undertakes the work in gastric cancer panel, which is affiliated with the experts committee of cancer prevention and treatment in the Association of medical exchanges across the Taiwan straits. In addition, he is an active member of South China GIST treatment work group and Guangdong Translational Medicine Society.
Dr. Tao Chen has participated in many scientific researches and his research interest includes the realization of laparoscopic surgery navigation system, three-dimensional reconstruction of vessels around the stomach, the standardized management and minimally invasive surgery of Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors (GIST). He is dedicated to promoting the laparoscopic surgery in gastrointestinal operation and has participated in the work of multicenter study on laparoscopic distal subtotal gastrectomy for advanced gastric cancer in Chinese Laparoscopic Gastrointestinal Surgery Study (CLASS) Group. Moreover, he contributes his work to the realization of single-incision laparoscopic surgery and carries out some clinical trials in appendectomy and the repair of a perforated gastroduodenal ulcer. Recently he has started to perform the laparoscopic surgery with the real-time navigation system based on his research about the topological assisted abdominal three-dimensional computed tomographic reconstruction showing relative organ relation.He has published several papers describing the efficacy of laparoscopic surgery in gastrointestinal operation, and the realization of laparoscopic surgery navigation system.
