Surgical Technique on Thoracic Surgery

Uniportal video-assisted anterior upper lobe anatomic segmentectomy S3: a technical description

Konstantinos Marios Soultanis, Diego Gonzalez-Rivas

Abstract

Anatomic resection of a bronchopulmonary segment has been validated as a safe and efficient way to treat benign, metastatic and early stage cancerous lesions of the lung. The procedure can sometimes be more demanding than a lobectomy, as it requires intralobar dissection of the bronchovascular structures. We hereby present the technique of resecting the anterior (S3) segment of the right and left upper lobe via the uniportal video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) technique.
