Surgical minimally invasive techniques for mitral valve repair—cannulation techniques and the Vienna approach

Minimally invasive approaches for mitral valve repair are increasingly applied in current clinical practice. Patients admitted to our clinic with suitable diagnoses are routinely screened for a right minithoracotomy and if suitable planned primarily for this approach. Herein we provide details regarding our minimally invasive mitral valve replacement or repair techniques with special emphasis on the cannulation strategy.
