Peter Licht: working hard & making good use of the internet—advices for young surgeons

“International Symposium on Complications in General Thoracic Surgery: Sino-Europe Summit 2016” was held successfully in Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital from September 23–24, 2016. The symposium was hosted by thoracic surgery branch of the Shanghai medical association. Many famous experts from Europe were invited to conduct a special lecture and in-depth discussion. During the break, the Editorial Office of Journal of Visualized Surgery was honored to have an interview with Dr. Peter Licht (Figure 1) after his speech on “How centralization of VATS leads to better surgery and outcome”.

In the interview, Dr. Peter Licht said that he has been to Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital three times and enjoys learning new technology each time. He hoped to have a chance to cooperate with the experts from different countries to do research in the future. Also, He told us that the best way to deal with complications is to avoid complications.

When talked about the advices for the young generation of cardiothoracic surgeons, Dr. Peter Licht thought that in addition to learning the technique through the Internet, but also need to work hard.
